Ending Vacation with a Bang

Oh man, you guys, we just had a great week at the beach. Our kids are old enough to love playing in the waves, both with and without help, which means I will now happily endorse the “Have 2 Kids 20 Months Apart” family plan. They played so hard they both napped every day (unusual for Liv). They are painfully cute in their beachwear. And we discovered that they both officially have their Daddy’s skin, which means that they’re both now a healthy shade of buttery brown. I, meanwhile, am still pale and freckled except for the streaks of red on both my shoulders where I missed with my sunscreen.

On our last night we went to dinner, and while we waited for our food my mom took the girls out to listen to the live music on the patio. I came out to tell them our food had arrived and found both girls dancing to the song Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin. When I started my original blog, I had music that played when you opened the page, and Heavenly Day was the first song. I wrote a whole post about the role Patty’s music has played in our relationship here. So, watching those two beauties sway to that music made my heart so full.

Then this happened.

Ergo, therefore, it follows that,

we ended our vacation with a bang.*

*No 2 year-olds were hurt in the making of this video. Except for that one who got clotheslined by her sister. (She’s fine.)

  1. Little girls in swimming suits are the cutest! I love that they stick their bellies right out 🙂

Even the best dancing can end with drama…

    1. I know! Me too. Like, actually, I did too this time because my baby bump decided to pop out much more this week! Kind of freeing, you know?

And yes, that whole dance thing was so sweet and then BOOOOM!

  2. Haha! Awww, poor E 🙁 I just watched that SEVERAL times. After wincing, giggling, and losing it, I then saw how cute Eliza was in the dress we got her (should have picked one up for my O), and next realized my O has the same shirt as your O 🙂

And I am eagerly awaiting the day when both of my girls will love playing in the waves and I can wholeheartedly endorse the same family plan.

    1. That dress is my new favorite on her. There’s something about it that fits her personality! So cute. Love that the Olivia’s have the same shirt. You have spectacular taste=)

And yes, that day will come!

  3. omg, i’m so so so sorry, but i laughed so hard at this! totally something that would happen between my girls 🙂 although it would probably be on purpose in their case!

  4. magnificent submit, very informative. I ponder why the other specialists of this sector don’t realize this. You must continue your writing. I am confident, you’ve a great readers’ base already!

  5. Great work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on Google for not positioning this post higher! Come on over and visit my site . Thanks =)

  6. Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your theme. Many thanks
